The Guys from The Rakes certainly have style. In their perfectly cut suits they play danceable indie rock, which is clearly influenced by the art rock of The Libertines. The music has this eighties feel –think The Cure, Buzzcocks- and singer Alan Donohoe crawls over the stage as Ian Curtis at his best days. Label it postpunk or indie, The Rakes are an exciting band that are capable of putting heavy subjects in cheerful songs. Their third album -recorded in <st1:state><st1:place>Berlin-</st1:place></st1:state> is coming soon.
